The presence of this feature suggests that the jets have a single training process, common also to comparable emissions from blacks holes and neutron stars
The presence of a magnetic field could be a common feature of the jets of matter from young stars: this is the conclusion of a study that could pave the way for a better understanding of the physics of all types of cosmic jets and of the role of magnetic fields in the process of star formation.
Throughout the universe, the jets of subatomic particles have three possible origins: the holes in the middle of supermassive galaxies blacks, blacks smaller holes or neutron stars that consume the material of the companion stars, and then young stars who are still in the process collection of material that surrounds them. So far, the magnetic fields in the jets have been revealed only in the first two cases, while the third one had no evidence ditretta.

Researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) succeeded for the first time to write, read and record information at the nanoscale magnetic form and using an electric field.
Currently, the most common technologies for recording data on a hard drive are to read and write information using a magnetic field. The unit of information on the hard drive, a bit, shall have dimensions as small as possible to increase the capacity of the storage medium. Writing by magnetic field meets however inherent limitations of miniaturization, which encourages scientists to find new ways of recording.
One such alternative is the electromagnetic coupling means information, always stored as magnetic field, are written using an electric field. This phenomenon occurs particularly in insulators complex.

A new image taken with the powerful camera HAWK -I, installed on the ESO VLT at the Paranal Observatory in Chile reveal the beautiful galaxy spiral barred NGC 1365 in the infrared. NGC 1365 belongs to the cluster of galaxies in the furnace and is located 60 million light years from the Earth.
NGC 1365 is a of galaxy barred spiral the best known and most studied . It is sometimes called the Great Galaxy Spiral Barred because of its form of perfection striking , with a straight bar and two spiral arms outside very marked. There is also a second spiral structure closest to the center and the entire galaxy is adorned with delicate bands of dust.
This galaxy is an excellent laboratory for astronomers who study the formation and evolution of galaxies barred spiral . The new infrared images taken with the camera HAWK -I are much less affected by dust that obscures parts of the galaxy than are the images taken visible light ( potw1037a ) . They thus reveal very clearly radiation a large number stars, both in the bar and spiral arms . These data were collected to help astronomers understand the RSS complex material in the galaxy and its impact on the reservoirs gas from which stars can form.

The European Space Agency ( ESA) this week celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Cluster mission , a flotilla of four satellites to study the invisible interaction between the Sun and Earth. The mission, which could extend beyond 2012, has helped to reveal some secrets of the aurora and solar storms.
The constellation of four satellites that integrates Cluster mission Earth is in orbit since September 1, 2000 . This week the ESA commemorates the event and recalled that the data provided by the mission represent the most detailed study to date on the solar wind interaction with Earth’s magnetic field in three dimensions.
Cluster is a decade studying the invisible interaction between the Sun and the Earth. Their studies have revealed the secrets of the aurora and solar storms, and helped to understand fundamental phenomena that occur throughout the Universe .
The auroras, those lights dancing in the polar skies , are not simply the manifestation of an invisible battle that takes place over our heads. Every day, impacting particles from the Sun at high speed toward the planet ‘s magnetic field , most bounce , but some are trapped by the magnetism of the Earth and are accelerated to collide with the atmosphere , creating the brilliance of the aurora , the planet’s radiation belts and, occasionally , large solar storms.

Cancer therapy currently means three things: surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Berlin researchers add a new method : the thermal treatment.
Andreas Jordan holds with tweezers a five cent coin into the notch a little brown box on his desk. At the two edges of the notch are coils that can induce an alternating magnetic field that its polarity can go up to 100,000 times per second. No sooner has the power is the coin begins to glow an orange – red. Jordan makes the glowing coin in a glass bowl with water slide , where it is colored black with a loud hiss. Sort of like that coin Jordan also brings to his body, and cancerous tumors can destroy them with this method altogether.
So far, the cancer therapy rested on three pillars: surgery , irradiation and chemotherapy. Now is probably as a fourth option, the “thermal therapy added to nanoparticles . “The principle is similar to that of the coin , “says Jordan , ” In the treatment of fine iron oxide dust is injected into malignant tumors, and heated in an alternating magnetic field. The tumor cells are downright cooked it : they burst or are severely weakened . “The trick to the method: This technique is the doctor in a position to fight the cancer from within. The nano – particles migrate from the tumor out not because they are stuck in a shell of amino silanes , which make the particles clump together after her heat in the tumor.

ultracold atoms in an elevator ? It is now possible . Next step : the satellite …
I was sitting on a chair in the Patent Office in Bern when suddenly I had an idea: when a man is in free fall, he does not feel his own weight . I was amazed . This simple thought experiment made a deep impression to me and took me to the theory of gravitation .
Albert Einstein , Kyoto , 1922
This is the idea that Einstein founded the theory of general relativity : a man trapped in an elevator in free fall not clear if he does not feel its weight because the elevator in free fall , or because that it is jettisoned in space, weightless. In other words , we can not distinguish the gravity of another type of acceleration . Today , physicists wonder about the validity of this ” principle of equivalence ” in the quantum domain . Tim van Zoest , of the Leibniz University in Hanover, and his colleagues have developed a device that would allow them to test this principle on a Bose- Einstein.
Provided by quantum physics , this peculiar state of matter – thousands of atoms cooled to the point where they are all in the same quantum state – is produced in the laboratory for fifteen years: the atoms are cooled laser , then in a magnetic trap . Slow down , they cool down to a few billionths of a degree above absolute zero . The experimental usual fills a room full of vacuum chambers, large magnetic coils , tables and optical electronics.

The Technical Research Institute Railway ( RTRI ) has announced 30 June 2010 having completed the development of new high temperature superconducting magnet for the magnetic levitation train (Maglev ). Small in size , it can work for 9 hours without refrigeration.
Since 1962, Japan is working to develop a magnetic levitation train ( MAGLEV called – magnetic levitation ) in order to overcome the friction between the wheels and rails of conventional trains , and thereby reach a commercial speed of 500 km / h. The train currently holds the world speed record for a rail system ( 581 km / h ) . However , although the annual report published in 2005 by the Technology Assessment Needed to Deployment of magnetic levitation train enters the train is technologically ready to operate , many research efforts are still needed to reduce the high costs construction , operation and maintenance , and thus able to open a first line between Tokyo and Nagoya at the earliest in 2025 .

Researchers, including astrophysicists Centre for the Study of Space Radiation in Toulouse (INSU-CNRS) have used the satellite Fermi (NASA) to observe gamma in the lobes of the radio galaxy Centaurus A.
These lobes, which cover approximately 20 times the diameter Apparent full Moon Were created by black hole supermassive that houses the radio galaxy at its center and are intense emitters of gamma rays. This is the first time this type of gamma-ray emission is detected in a radio galaxy, Centaurus A thus making even more interesting to study.
Centaurus A is the nearest active nuclei of galaxies located 12 million light years from us. This elliptical galaxy has a very special structure with two jets of material emanating from a central black hole of several hundred million solar masses. It is currently being absorption a galaxy spiral. This material, ejected at speeds close to the speed of light, Form two large lobes of several million light years long, which radiate in the field of radio waves. In this field lengths wave it is one of the largest and most luminous objects in the celestial sphere, and is therefore a field search privileged.

Exploiting the position of the setting sun on it to calibrate the magnetic field direction that will serve them as a compass in the night while traveling more widely
E ‘well known that bats use echolocation to navigate the short-distance travel, but some bats moving every night even 20 km in search of their prey, often used the caves in winter and summer are located over 50 km and some species migrate each year for one thousand kilometers. Recent data have suggested how bats use the Earth’s magnetic field to orient themselves in the longer trips.
Now, as is reported an article published on the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), a group of researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology has confirmed this hypothesis through an experiment in which they checked the ability of species of bats Myotis myotis to find my way home at night, after handling the magnetic field at sunset.

The bats guide their flights by the magnetic field of Earth and sun. This was discovered three researchers from Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen (Bavaria). Contrary to what one would expect of nocturnal animals, the position of the setting sun seems to be the source of priority information for those flying mammals, such as scientific highlights.
When looking for food, the bats can travel considerable distances. If these mammals are able to fly, avoid obstacles and reach their destination safely in the dark, thanks to a sophisticated guidance system based on magnetic field and adjustable depending on the position of to sunset, as shown by scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology.
Ornithologists have studied the flight of two groups of Myotis myotis
